Cape May's Most Historic Bed and Breakfast Hotel.
The Chalfonte, Cape May's enduring Historic Site in the National Historic Landmark City, celebrates her 132st anniversary in 2008. Victorian Cape May's beloved Chalfonte was built in 1876, by Colonel Henry Sawyer, and since that time she has defied conventional definitions of "hotel."
The Chalfonte is located just three blocks from the beautiful Cape May beaches, white and expansive.
The Hotel is single, couple, group and family-friendly, and features 70 rooms, some with private baths and others with shared baths on the hall. It's part of the unique culture and community of the Chalfonte that provide you with accommodations with history, traditions and value.
Unfettered by modern pressures, guests keep coming back again and again, to experience the tranquility and charm, and the locale and culture.
Built in the nineteenth century, the Chalfonte offers "the view from yesterday" genteel Southern-style hospitality, ornate gingerbread verandas lined with comfortable rocking chairs and a constant sea breeze to rejuvenate and refresh.
The Hotel has its own dining room, The Magnolia Room, serving breakfast and dinner daily.
Accommodations are in the main building and there are three historic cottages on the property. Simplicity is the keyword that best describes the guest rooms; all furnished with beautiful marble-topped dressers and washstands, ceiling fans, and an outer louvered door to welcome the fresh breezes.
A variety of room types allows guests to select cozy, quaint rooms for Summer escapes, or larger accommodations ideal for family vacations. In addition, Chalfonte guests can choose from rooms with a private bath, or semi-private baths.
Weddings - The Chalfonte's "Wedding Tree" at the rear of the propoerty is a lovely willow, with a perfect sized lawn to seat guests - a private intimate setting for your vows. Then, after the ceremony, your guests can gravitate to the long porches of the Hotel, and gather and mingle and celebrate with you on our sweeping verandas.

Rooms do not have air-conditioning, televisions or telephones, making for a lovely distraction-free vacation!
DEPOSITS: When making as reservation at the Chalfonte, we require a 50% deposit on the full amount of the reservation, which will be charged to your credit card.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Should you need to cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. Two weeks notice is required in the event of cancellation in order for a deposit to be refunded, minus a $25.00 bookkeeping charge per room.
Deposits on reservations that are canceled within the 2 weeks of the arrival date will be refunded only if the hotel is completely booked for the entire length of your stay, less the $25.00 bookkeeping charge. Guests arriving later than the confirmed arrival date and departing earlier than the confirmed departure date are responsible for the cost of the number of nights originally confirmed.
