In the summer of 2007 we had 1 wedding, 2 large wedding groups, and 6 couples on their Honeymoon. We also had 7 couples celebrating their 40th Anniversary and 3 couples celebrating their 50th Anniversary.
The Inn features a covered Spa and BBQ on the Waters edge and fireplaces in all the Bedrooms.

The Black Bear Inn is Ketchikan's Finest Waterfront Inn. It was designed for guest's privacy and relaxation. Completed in 2005 its unique furnishings, décor and numerous amenities can only be matched by the finest of hotels.
You can rent 4 bedrooms in the main house, the 1 bedroom luxury apartment, the 2 bedroom Cabin or 1 bedroom with private bath. The entire rental accommodates 16.
It is the perfect place for large gatherings, family retreats, business groups, wedding parties and special occasions.
The main house has four distinctive, beautifully appointed guest bedrooms with private entrances and baths, fireplaces, flat screen TV's with DVD and VCR players, refrigerators, phones and wireless Internet. The Eagles Nest, a full 1 bedroom apartment, has 2 beds and is on the top floor of the Inn. It has its own private entrance and covered porch. The Bunkhouse, a 2 bedroom Cabin , located next to the main house, has 1 queen bed, a single, a fireplace, sitting and eating area, bath and kitchenette.
All of the Black Bear’s rooms overlook the water and show case Alaskan artist's paintings, prints and photographs. The property has Sirius satellite surround sound and free Wireless high speed Internet.
The well-designed kitchen offers top of the line appliances, a crystal chandelier, Italian tile work and everything you need to prepare that special meal. Continental breakfast and snacks are always available. Three eating areas are provided for privacy or to accommodate large groups.
The living room has a warm luxurious feel enhanced by a hand built designer fireplace in the corner. A leather couch makes into a queen bed when needed. The room has a flat panel TV, a DVD and VCR player, a game and movie cabinet and a library. There is a full bathroom and spacious laundry room off the living area. The laundry has an ironing area and an upright fish freezer.
The Inn provides free local phone calling and free use of a copy, scan and fax machine. The Inn is non-smoking, but covered porches can be used for smoking.
The Black Bear Inn can accommodate short-term stays by guests who are departing on, or returning from other Alaskan adventures. Baggage storage and departure transportation can be provided. Fishing Charters, Women’s Adventure & Fishing Trips and Sea Kayak Fishing Charters can be arranged through the Inn between May and October. Stays can be customized to include catered meals and a driver. The kitchen is available to guests who chose to bring their own chief.
Eagles, Ravens and Seagulls perch in the Sixty-year-old Spruce and Cedars that border the property's park-like setting. Multilevel decking wraps around the house providing outstanding spots to sit back and watch wildlife, float planes, barges, fishing boats, world-class yachts, Alaska ferries, and cruise ships. The covered outdoor Hot Tub, fire pit and BBQ, on the waters edge, is the most romantic place to watch Ketchikan’s majestic sunsets. There is an outdoor crab cooker, fish smoker and fish cleaning area for guests to prepare their catch of the day.

One night Roon Stays are welcome, at no additional charge.
Rates are based on 1 or 2 guests per room. There is a $50 charge for each additional guest per night.
Payment Methods: Personal checks, cashiers checks, Visa or Master Card payments are accepted.
Deposit Requirements: A reservation deposit of the first night charge or 50% of the total booking, if the stay is for more than one nights, is required when the reservation is made.
Cancellation Policy: A two week advance cancellation notice is required to receive a reservation deposit refund. This requirement will be waved when the cancellation is due to an immediate Family emergency or uncontrollable circumstance due to weather or travel conditions. Proof may be required. In all cancellation cases a $50 processing fee will retained from the deposit.
Check In / Check Out:
- Check in is 3:00 PM.
- Check out is 11:00 AM unless otherwise arranged.
- Early arrivals may drop off their luggage after 8:00 AM
- Late arrivals need to notify the Inn in advance.
Regulations: For safety reasons there are age restrictions on children, please check in advance.
With prior approval, a pet may be accepted for a small fee and deposit.
